Connecting your TV or any device really directly to the modem via ethernet, you should be able to get the maximum bandwidth. Wifi is also not too bad these days. Especially dual-band or tri-band routers they have with WiFi 6 these days. But still wired-ethernet connect will always be better since there are issues like wifi channel congestion, dead zones in your house, and various other factors that make wired connection much faster and reliable than wireless.

Most importantly, routers offers some levels of protection for your home Network. TVs and other IOT devices are easily penetrable. You can plug your TV directly into a router port to reduce latency inherently present in wifi signals.
