I would call Verizon to see if this is a compatible modem. I don't see it on their list. This is a modem, or a bridge to from a cable network to Ethernet. You would then need a router internally that would do the mesh. The modem shouldn't affect any internal devices. Your wireless router would be the firewall/nat etc. I have the google wifi mesh router/APs. I really like them and they are easy to set up.
