I upgraded my internet to 1 gig and was told I need to upgrade from Docsis 3.0 to 3.1. Curious if my Linksys AE7300 router will still be compatible for both this router and that gig speed? null

Please check the mfgrs stated thru put of the router. Your router could be choking the speed !!

Dear user, to support above 1Gbps plans, please ensure your modem/gateway is D3.1 and has 2.5Gbps port. Your router should be able to support the higher bandwidth, but it is recommend to use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) to maximize your performance.
