Does the type PCI Express slot matter on the speeds? null

I think the question should be: "What generation of PCIe does this card support?" Given its age (released in 2017), I doubt this card is anything more than a PCIe Gen2 (at most a Gen3) card. NOTE: Gen2 is "enough" to support a 10GbE NIC (@ 4Gb/lane * 4 = 16Gb) It would certainly be nice if ASUS and other manufacturers stated what the card actually supports (requires) on the PCIe side. It's inaccurate (at best) to state that PCIe Gen4 offers any performance benefit at all. Just my opinion of course...based in math though it is: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, it matters what PCIe version the adapter is connected, motherboard with a PCIe 4.0 will achieve maximum bandwidth from the network adapter.
