“What brand and type of ram do you buy to expand to 8gb? There is only on memory slot in the laptop and I was told to buy the 2 x 4gb ram from PNY to install onto the laptop and it did not work so I bought the one 8gb ram memory stick and it still will not recognize the newly upgraded memory. Any help would be great, thanks.”

I had a similar question about upgrading the ram. After speaking with ASUS customer service, it seems that the "pre-installed" 4GB is actually non-removable. There is a slot to add extra ram, for a TOTAL of 8GB. So, if you bought a 8GB stick, you have a total of 12GB ram installed which is over it's max supported. looks like all you can do is add a 4GB stick into the open slot.
