I have this issue sometimes. It has nothing to do with the hardware. Asus drivers can be sketchy in my experience when it comes to touchpads. Being a gaming laptop, it is assumed you would be using an actual mouse. That would be my guess as to why they didn't put a lot of effort into the software of the touchpad.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had an issue with the ROG button near keypad. If I had a setting applied my TouchPad wouldn't work at all. Try disabling the particular profile, of trying scanning for hardware changes in device manager. Not stuttering, but I did occasionally tap the touchpad. Super sensitive. Hope this helps...
