I would recommend not performing a fresh install. Many of the new SSD manufacturers provide software that will allow you to clone your existing drive. After that, just swap it out. If the SSD you are looking at does not have the software, you can also purchase a kit that includes the usb cable to connect to the SATA drive and a CD with the cloning software.
