You have to go to the power settings page and select high performance to get the laptop into 4K display mode. Had the same issue and got an answer from ASUS.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, To answer your question, most services do not offer 4K Experience. Services like Netflix, and other 4k services will automatically run in 4K. ASUS told me that the computer doesn't run in 4K naturally, but when watching 4K movies and such it'll automatically switch to the higher resolution. I know it seems weird, but great computer nonetheless.
