I did a lot of research before buying this computer and could not find any other version like this one with similar features or a CD drive. I believe this one is only available at Best Buy. Most Manufactures are eliminating the DVD/CD drive to make the laptop thinner and lighter.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased a LG Slim Portable DVD writer and it works well with this computer. I have played CD's with music through it. I also use a "MY Passport" External Drive for Backup. Each of these items loaded without a glitch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most laptops don't come with a cd/DVD drive anymore, mostly cause everything is easily downloaded online or thru flash drives. As far as similar specs on a laptop that come with, maybe go to the Asus website and or call Asus directly.
