Sure, but the benefits of the extra storage far outweigh the added heft and nominal battery usage. If those things are of import to you, a 13.3" ultrabook is what you seek.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.OP meant take the hard drive out for good. Like how much does it weigh? Half a pound? A pound? Can it be safely removed?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I meant remove the HDD and just leave the SSD, since 512gb is more than enough for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I fail to see how removing the hard drive will make the laptop easier to carry or will make the battery last longer. If you carry the hard drive in a separate bag from the laptop, the weight of the laptop would only be reduced by the weight of the hard drive, but you still have to carry both parts and reassemble the laptop to make it functional. In the end the additional effort required to disassemble the laptop, carry the hard drive in a static free bag, and reassemble it at your destination far outweighs (catch the intended pun) the slight weight reduction of the laptop. Removing the battery would be easier, safer, and would have a greater impact on the carrying weight of the laptop. If all this disassembly still doesn't lighten your shoulder-strap load, get a rolling laptop bag.
