• Yes. All ASUS optical drives are plug and play with Microsoft built-in driver, so it should work with Windows 8.

• I just added this to my new computer running Win 8.1 and have used it to install several softwares without any problems; however, during installation it suggested updating firmware and operating choices did not include WIN 8. I have sent a request to tech support for a firmware upgrade for win 8.

• Yes, It is a plug and play with any Asus computer as well as the newest windows 8 operating software.
