- Answer Yes. All ASUS optical drives are plug and play with Microsoft built-in driver, so it should work with Windows 8.

- Answer Yes you are able to play pc games. The unit plays multiple formats. It plays, reads, and writes dvd and cd's. However it only supports USB 2.0 and not 3.0.

- Answer I bought external DVD drive to watch DVD movies with my 15” Lenovo Chromebook. I could not find a software interface to make it work and when I tried to find a solution with Google it told me that it would not work.
