• The keypad is backlit while in use and goes off automatically when not. There are a couple settings for screen illumination. Night light and dark theme. Hope this helps.

• The specs in the Description is wrong. This Asus cx5601 chromebook has a backlit keyboard.

• I believe you can turn off and on .. there is a top row of buttons to operate different functions.. I always leave it on so I can see keys better.
