Please try again later.As a rule, firmware updates are unnecessary unless 1) the firmware fixes features, functionality, or performance, 2) a feature is added by the new firmware that you would like to use, or 3) the firmware fixes security flaws that should be corrected. That being said, you should be ok to update the firmware if you are careful to let the firmware finish without losing power to the router. It is good to update the firmware periodically to fix security issues and improve performance if there are any, but it is unnecessary to do it often, unless you have one of the three reasons mentioned above for updating it, or if there is another specific reason for updating the firmware.
