“Can someone tell me how their hinges are holding up & how long you've owned it for? I've been reading reviews & apparently hinges are prone to breaking.”

I've owned this laptop for one month. The hinge has performed as expected so far. When opening the laptop there is firm resistance. The screen stays where I set it. The hinge does feel like some type of composite plastic. I have dropped the laptop once already. The laptop took the hit like a champ.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.So this was a big part in my research as well. Many times hinges are made out of cheap plastic and in a bout a year at least one is cracking. This happens a lot with touch screens because people hit the screen while its open with no support. This means all that pressure is being put on the poor hinges. This laptop was designed great. since its supposed to get opened into a tablet it is reinforced with a metal plating of some kind. I have owned it for about 9 months with constant use. The hinges and the overall tightness of opening and closing have not changed a bit. Hinges are not a problem in my case.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had mine about a year now and the hinges and screen are both failing. The screen is being split from the frame by the hinge as the hinge doesnt seem to move easily or something which causes stress on the plastic pieces that attach the screen to the hinge. The plastic piece broke or something which is pushing the glass out of the screen and separating it from the back, cant close the laptop anymore, and sometimes the screen doesn't turn on. Garbage design :/ really frustrating.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had mine for almost three years now and the hinges have held up beautifully, for anyone still wondering about this. Some of the color has rubbed off on them so there's a little silver showing through the gold, but other than that they work as well as the day I bought it.
