I purchased this two months ago, it comes in a sturdy cardboard box with a handle, inside there will be a foam packing bag with the laptop inside, snugly fit into it's own compartment. To the side will be the power brick, and under the laptop, in a cardboard compartment , will be a tab you open to find all the driver disks and other accessories it comes with. Was packed nicely and not shoddy at all.

There was some brown paper crinkled up and shoved in, but the laptop box was free to move around inside the larger box. Mine arrived with almost an inch wide vertical line that went from the top to the bottom of the screen that was a dead area.

My unit was just fine - I was nervous on shipping as well, but even if there was an issue, a good store GM should take care of you without issue. Order in store too, you'll get free 2 day shipping to your door. :)
