So the first M2 slot that is your boot drive supports Gen 4 or rather PCI 4, but the M2 they give you is a Gen 3 NVMe. The second M2slot supports Gen 3 only. So the question is kinda tricky with a complicated answer. If you buy a second gen 4 M2 NVMe that is really fast and needs the slot you would have to replace the existing boot drive with it to get the full potential and then clone/copy or re-install the OS onto it.
