• There is only one memory slot on this laptop. There is 8GB soldered on the motherboard (you cant change it). From the factory, there is a 4GB memory chip that is replaceable. Thus there is 12GB from the factory. The max memory is 24GB. To do this, you will need a single 16GB DDR4 2400 SODIMM 260 pin memory chip. This will replace the 4GB in the machine.

• Do not know because if you crack the case you void the warranty. So far as I know it's 2x4gb.
