This is the easiest and hardest (pun intended) way to diagnose. Do this AFTER you test the monitor with other devices. Tear everything down, place the motherboard onto the the box, and pull everything off, and then check the CPU, and after you tell that the CPU is physically good, install it and cooler, and PLUG IN THE FAN. Then add RAM, and connect the case power switch or A power switch and PSU cables (24 pin and 8 pin CPU), and plug in monitor and test. If it boots then, then install everything else. If not, try moving the RAM to another DIMM slot, and if that doesn't work after you've tried all DIMM slots, try another stick of RAM. If THAT doesn't work, CALL ASUS! Best customer support I've had from a company in a long time. The pic is what I had to do once I ran into an issue. Word of encouragement, doing the diagnostics and repair makes you appreciate the PC more (in my opinion) EVEN THOUGH you want to pull your hair pout and its a great feeling once you get everything to work!
