There are 3 things you must know. First, this laptop uses 1.2V or 1.35V RAM sticks (specifically for laptops, because laptops and computers have different RAM storage). Second, it has 8gb already installed, and has an extra slot next to that RAM stick allowing more RAM storage to be installed (you can find this in the laptop's motherboard). Third, if you upgrade to 16gb of RAM, you will need to order/buy another 8gb of RAM that has the voltage 1.2V or 1.35V, or order the 16gb RAM that comes in pairs because they work as one large stick even if they are split into two (refer to Crucial.com which searches for your laptop's make and model and what hardware it can accept, this laptop is an ASUS Notebook ROG STRIX G512LI). It should be easy to click the RAM stick into the extra slot, otherwise you can have a tech person install it for you.
