HDMI only gives you up to 60hz refresh rate. Display port is the better option. You'll get 180hz refresh rate using display port.

Assuming you're buying this for gaming. Display port is for direct connect to video card so you can take advantage of the higher frame rates this monitor can operate on. Have this connected to an EVGA 1070...

Displayport would be the best choice since it will allow access to the full 180hz. Hdmi is limited to 60hz.

I think Display Port is technically better. I believe it can handle higher refresh rates at higher resolutions. But I've heard that HDMI can support 144hz @ 1080p. Not sure if it can handle that at 180hz, the max refresh rate for this monitor, but I can tell you that Display Port can handle it.
