Re windows, Best Buy specs are contradictory here. One place says Win 11 Home, elsewhere says Win 11 Pro. I suspect it’s Pro cuz I think the 4080 and 4090 models get Pro. Owners weigh in please. And yes you get a goofy display. Smile cuz this is the last year you can get the goofy display. With 2024 model you will will look like you bought an HP/Dell/Lenovo business PC model.

Please try again later.Actually, from what I’ve learned on tech channels, with DDR-5 memory, you apparently get double channel even with only the soldered memory (that acts like a double channel stick, I guess). When you add a 16 GB stick to the open slot, it is claimed you get 32 GB of quad channel memory. What’s unclear to me with the relatively new DDR-5 is, if you add a 32 GB stick of proper speed, do you get the low 32 GB at quad channel interleaving, but then the high address 16 GB at only dual channel speed? In any event, if you care much about effective CPU speed (and even if you don’t need the memory per se), you should think seriously about popping in at least a 16 GB stick. And this is a wise improvement in this year’s model that some of us lobbied for last year (you’re welcome).
