• The fans push heat out the sides vents. Some heat does come out of those. They are more Passive.

• The vents located between the screen and keyboard, the one you're talking about are for outtake air. Its not a problem at all for the screen but it does get fairly hot & super satisfying heat (or just me) when playing heavy games.
