This is an edge lit LCD display. The "Full HD" refers to the resolution of 1920x1080, aka 1080p. Full Array and Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) displays have a two dimensional array of LED's behind the LCD panel to increase perceived contrast ratio, and significantly increase the thickness of the display. As far as I'm aware, they're currenly only used in stationary televisions and some desktop monitors because of this. The closest (actually superior) in performance to an FALD display you'll find in a laptop is an OLED display. These are generally very expensive, don't have high refresh rates, and are only found in a few models.
