“Someone mentioned in a review it's tough to balance on your lap, does this function like a Windows Surface or tablet in that it has a stand for stability or does it truly open and close like laptop not a type cover?”

It comes with a separate stand that I haven't figured out yet. It opens just like a laptop and is very stable in my lap. I have not noticed any excessive heat coming from it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's easy to balance and lay it on your lap comfortably, just need to know the best position to have it placed. It is a regular laptop, not like a detachable laptop or tablet, like the Surface Pro.
