Normally, the battery can operate more than 2 year, depending on how often you need to charge it. It does not die immediately but you will feel the standby time becomes shorter than shorter. If you need to charge it everyday because you hang on the phone all day, the battery will die sooner; but if you charge every 2-3 days, it will work much longer. There is no issue to worry about the battery dying, because the technology improvement makes the phone phase out. I never changed my phone because of battery dying but for some features that the phone could not support, or the memory becomes too small.
