“Is there an open space in the very center rear there the phone connection wire can be inserted into to sit flush against the wall?”

• There is an opening in the rear. Mounting would have to be done by pulling the top portion of the back down in order to make it level. The cord hooks into the TOP of the phone so your cord would have to slide behind from the top. There is no back center jack. You would also have to use mounting hardware as this will not fit the older rectangles that phone companies used to install.
