“What is the AC power for. I have my phone CL4940 connected to the wall outlet but the screen reads "No AC Power". I disconnected phone from wall outlet and it still works.”

• It is needed to operate the answering device, lighted LCD screen, and other features that a simple phone does not have. The small voltage and current that comes through a phone line isn't enough to power such features.

• Did you also plug you the other cord into your electrical outlet? If not this is likely what it is referring to. The light display works from electricity.
