• not sure what a cox landline is. but does not require a tape as it is digital. so never have to worry about tape going bad.

• The built in answer machine works fine. Digital so no need for tapes. Works on The co axial system Voice .

• I connected this for a friend where Comcast is in the whole building. Using the Voice system which is coaxial. The phone I purchased does not have tape seems OK. Will post again if there is a problem. Caller ID is good. Phone is simple to use for people who can not even deal with cell phones.
