“Has anyone successfully used one of these prepaid hotspots to connect the WiFi on a SmartTV? This is my “make it or break it” part of the deal. Need to connect our TV to Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. Don’t want to waste the money only to find it won’t work.”

I have not but this works like a wireless router, so it's possible. Your drawback may be the speeds. As long as you have good AT&T connection and speed you'll be fine.
