How does this work? null

No science or technology involved. You just put the same color set of two on a cable, one at each end. So when you go to unplug a cable from one end, you exactly know which one you are taking out. You need these if you have a clutter of wires behind your TV.

you have to connect the wires to the tv set. its a wireless sub wolfer however.
