Yes, it does come with a USB cable.

It is not the turntable that does the converting, it is the software program you choose to do the converting . I myself use EZ VINYL/TAPE CONVERTER which saves the tracks as .wav. You will have to research the software that is out there if you are so stuck on .mp3.
