A:AnswerVolume is only controlled by the speakers. The player needs to be hooked into a receiver unless your speakers are wired since most speakers need power. The record player needs to be plugged into some kind of input either line or phone to produce sound. I used a 38 year old receiver and speakers and switched the button on the record player to line and set my receiver to CD/AUX setting to produce the sound I was looking for.
