In principal, the use of any adapter is a compromise. However, this adapter uses high quality materials and the amount of compromise is so small as to be inconsequential. I would be surprised if anyone could see or hear a difference with and without the adapter.

I use this adapter to turn down my HDMI connection behind my wall mounted TV to ensure that the cable isn’t damaged while I play around with my network and it’s configuration. Connecting a 4K streaming device I’ve noticed no decearnable loss in connectivity or signal quality. That said even after careful considering both audio and video performance of this connection.
