“I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado and I'm not sure if it's the radio or the speakers that need replaced (the speakers quit working one at a time).. Is there a way to test the system before making a purchase. I will need installation whichever the case.”

It's the speakers. That body style Silverado is known for letting water get inside the doors and drop on the speakers.
