“I saw in a review that the download code is through vudu, Is that so? I've looked on vudu and they have the cartoon for purchase but it's hard to tell if it's the remastered version.. Is that what the code takes you to or is it something else?”

My vudu shows all eps in HDX. I believe the SD issue was with the 1st run limited edition set dl codes (I haven't opened that one). People were upset & they supposedly fixed it. I bought the non limited edition version as well (on sale) & that's the code I used. Great set especially if you can get it on sale.

Yes, digital code activates on VUDU for the series and 2 movies. Will unlock the HD versions upon use.
