“Does this thing actually cool or is it basically a fancy directed fan that also has a heat feature? I am really interested in one but mainly for cooling not heating.”

It does NOT have an air conditioning function. People don’t read. The beset cannot cool the air, it uses the ambient air in your room. Which can be a few degrees cooler at floor level. The movement of air alone however can create a better cooling sensation than you’d expect even on warmer days but it does not cool the air
