You do not need Bluetooth. It is an amplifier that has control buttons on each side that hangs down and controls volume and tone. My father uses it everyday and likes it better than his hearing aides.

Please try again later.You would want to pair this with a phone or tablet long enough to at least perform the hearing test so that it can adjust the frequency curve to your hearing needs. Then you could disconnect from bluetooth and use standalone forever. I would actually recommend not keeping these connected to the phone because every alert on the device messes up the volume level of the hearing as it flips in and out of "streaming" mode. The money back guarantee is based on Best Buy's return policy; I returned mine with no problem since I want them to work well with a phone. I honestly feel like you might be completely happy with these if you don't want them to be connected with bluetooth, I would say give them a try!
