There's no "instant wifi" without an internet provider - an external router (i.e. not built into a modem, you have to connect it) makes wireless connection to the internet possible, but it won't create that internet connection all on its own. You need an internet provider to either supply you with a modem or give your own modem some way to connect to the internet. This router will create both a secure wireless 2.5 & 5 gHz network when plugged into that - in short, my internet provider isn't charging me for WiFi any more because I now have this router. (I got this external router because the one built into my modem couldn't keep my printer on its network to save its life.) But you still need Comcast/Spectrum/Charter or whatever internet provider is available in your area for that initial ethernet connection.
