I received the Belkin AC router and it has many features. I activated the guest WiFi and changed the password. Also updated the password on the main account. All very easy. Wish it had a stronger signal but going to change location of the router maybe that will help.

I bought this router to use alongside an Arris SB6183 modem cable and they have twinned perfectly. I had to call Belkis customer service, because I couldn't configure it, but it was really very easy. The problem was bad review on my part. BTW, Belkis customer service was excellent.

Provides 2 bands - ideally with one for streaming and gaming at the faster 5GHz, and the other, at about half that speed for regular surfing, etc., - your choice. Works good, but as others have pointed out, during set-up, every time you make a change, the router resets to save and re-write new configuration - which takes time. Sales person said that some buyers have complained that it periodically loses connection with internet so must be reset. Belkin has added a feature called "Self-Healing", where it can be set to automatically does a soft reboot once a week at a user-specified time/day. This is good, but unfortunately it looses connection with your modem, so it requires a modem reset to connect. Hopefully they will fix that in a firmware patch. The "Self-Healing" mode can be toggled off (which we did), and haven't had any issues with losing connectivity for over 3 weeks to date. Also good range on the lower band for going through walls.

I replaced an earlier generation Belkin router and the difference is substantial - behind a Spe*trum gateway it still delivers 85% of the quoted BB rates running on the 5GHz channels. 2.4GHz is so-so.
My devices stay connected much more consistently with this router than the previous one. Easy to setup and manage and seems rock-solid after a couple months.

This router is easy to setup and use. I am not an IT person, I'm just savvy enough with computers to be dangerous and I had no problems setting up this router. I am able to control it with my IPad through the wifi. I was able to setup passwords, grant access and control IP addressing issues that occurred because we are using so many devices. I am also able to monitor the status of my internet connection and/or reset the router as needed. It is dual band (2.4 and 5 GHz) and we have not had any problems connecting any devices to one or both of these frequencies. The router is connected to a cable modem and reliably gives us the full 50 MBps that we are subscribed to. One word of caution, the intellistream setting requires an accurate speedtest. Once you set the intellistream, it limits the speed to whatever you input during setup.

I bought this router on the recommendation of a best buy employee. He suggested that this router would be the minimum to meet my needs. I got it home, opened the box, and tried to set it up, unsuccessfully. Had a family member come to help, who is much more computer savy than me, and he could not get it to work either. The box said it came with a set up disk and a manual, neither of which were in the box. After hours of no success, I finally decided to return it, and get another one, with the hopes that it would come with the manual and set up disk. It did not. However, after an hour or so, I was finally able to get the router to talk to my modem, and finally got everything working the way it should. Apparently there was something wrong with the first one. Since then, it has worked wonderfully. Has handled multiple devices at the same time with no problems. I think it is actually a little more than I needed. Would definitely recommend it if you can get past the start up phase!

This router is annoyingly tippy, but works well for relatively short distances, probably equal or better than others in its price range. I had problems with range as I wanted the useful range to extend from the family room to the bedrooms in a 2600 square foot home. The far bedroom got only one bar and spotty reception. I bought a Belkin extender, which helped, but only got two bars. I learned that extenders are a poor way to improve reception as they are very inefficient, as they lose much of the signal while amplifying the remainder. Better to use the money for the extender to buy a better router instead. Which is what I decided to do. I took them both back to the store, planning to get the next best. Then I decided not to play around - with the money from the returns, and adding about $50.00, I could get a router that was known to have more range than most. I knew that, when it comes to receiving signals, its way better to choose extra. So, I bought the Linksys WRT 1900AC. I understand Belkin now owns that company.
Well, that turned out to be a good decision! We not only got full, five bars, we got five bars in the shop, which is a separate building about 100 feet away! Not to mention additional features - like being extra fast!. No more hassles and such a strong signal is well worth it. Forget buying any "extender", just get this router or another as powerful (not many are) with the money, and get far more signal to boot.
I am still recommending the Belkin F9K1113-BBY for those who don't need much of a signal as I think its competitive with others in its price range, but if you think you may need an extender, forget that - use the money for a much better router and be in fat city as far as a router is concerned. One less hassle! Dave in Seattle, WA

I was attracted to this device in part because of the low price but also for its advertised ability to handle multiple devices at multiple bandwidths. I've had this for a couple of months now, and I'm just not impressed. It has three access channels: the standard WiFi access point, a high frequency, high bandwidth media channel, and a guest access channel. The media channel, with the best specs on paper, is the least reliable. Sometimes I can't connect to it at all. Sometimes I have to toggle between the three channels to find one that works; strangely enough, sometimes I have to switch to the guest access.
We're only talking about three people in the house, all within 40-50 feet, so the demand isn't outrageous, and my internet service is decent (15 mbps). As long as it works, I can deal with the switching, but there are days I feel like I should have bought something else.

Hi. Thank you for sharing this insight with your experience. It might be possible that the firmware of the router is the cause of this problem. We recommend that you perform a firmware update on the router, then reset and configure it again. Mostly easy to set up. Has options for "regular", "media" and "guest" users, which I thought would be useful, but I can't login to the one of my choosing. My device (I have four of them) dictates what's available, "regular" or "media". But I've never been able to login to the "guest" mode, even to test it. Range and strength seem to be good, overall.

This router was a great value. It was easy to set up and has quite good range. I purchased this for my company's trade show booth where there are lots of wireless networks. The signal held strong and there was no degradation from other signals interfering with it. I had about 10 various devices ranging from Macs, PCs, Android and iPhones and iPads sharing the network at one time. The dual band is a must if you are in a multi-device environment, especially when just one can degrade the speed if it is 802.11 a, b, or g. Also, it was easy to set up and required no rebooting, etc.. If you are using it in an environment where it will not be handled much, you will not have any issues with fingerprints showing, that was my only negative which really isn't one, just me being a bit OCD.
