• It shuts off. The orange indicator light tells you when it's heating, or when it's reached its temp.

• Hello, Thank you for reaching out. When cooking has been completed, turn the temperature control to the OFF position. The indicator light on the temperature control probe will turn off. Thank You BELLA Customer Service
