• We believe the glass is some other type of glass. Also, in response to another inquiry, "Can you put fresh herbs in the clear kettle when making teas". My wife and I are both in agreement, NO, do not put fresh herbs to mix in with regular teas, etc. The reason is because the clear glass product the way it is made, will gum up and will be VERY HARD TO CLEAN. You can try, and have a few tea sessions, however, it will very hard to clean later. It is just the way the kettle is designed. It is a very good product, otherwise.
