How do you make two waffles null

Both sides open independently. Just rotate and open with button on front. Only the side on top will open

Per the instructions that come with it, fill one side, close, flip, fill the other side, close, wait for the timer.

You have to start one, then flip it to the other side and list the handle on the side 2.
