Use a high quality ground and tap down tightly and you will get a nice crema foam

I'm new at this but been doing a lot of practicing... Yes, the bella PRO Slim Espresso Machine produced a rich layer of crema on top of my espresso. I used a fine grind. If the grind is too coarse, the water may flow through too quickly to develop a rich foam. Also, make sure to tamp (compress) the coffee grounds lightly, firmly and evenly in the portafilter.
