9 3/4" clearance between bottom and second shelf. 10" clearance between second and top shelf. We are only using the middle shelf for three items that weigh less than 20 lbs total, but we have a big old Hitachi receiver that weighs a lot, and I don't think putting it on that shelf would be a problem. However, consider the depth as well. Our Hitachi is 14" deep (including knobs). The center and bottom shelves are just over 15" and 16" deep (before they hit the hardware) respectively. If your Onkyo is deeper than that, then you might want to reconsider.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The manual says the total weight limit for the middle shelf is 50 pounds and the bottom shelf is 75 pounds. I would definitely put the heaviest items on the bottom shelf. The distance between the shelves is a little more than 9 1/2 inches. The manual doesn't specifically list a weight limit for the top shelf but says the tv should not weigh more than 125 pounds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is 10 inches clearance on both shelves. However, the upper shelf, once you get "inside" the 1 inch lip holding the top, actually has about 11.5 inches clearance to the bottom of the top panel.
