“Can I use this penlight as a regular flashlight? I'm hoping I can! I need a flashlight to take along with me for night walks (safety), and I'm hoping that this penlight can serve as a basic flashlight for night walks.”

I think it would work for the purpose, however I suggest something a bit brighter.

It is a great small easy to carry light but I use it in my home only. It has a wide angle but in a really dark walk, I believe you probably would prefer more light. I think it would be handy to have in your car as well as in home use.
