I’m not really understanding input vs output. My dvd writer needs 5 volts and this outputs 500 mega something. Each device will be different, but may need to use them simultaneously. Can this device do that and how do I know it won’t overload the system? null

I use it for DVD player/writer, for huge data file transfers from cards, for external backup hard drives, etc. The Mega something you referred to is probably the transfer rate, which could be how man megabytes per second it will let transfer. But the power...that is no issue. I provides the power needed to operate all my externals. I use it on my computer, but also to charge my phone when I'm working. Nothing has gone wrong, not even once. It's a great device.
