• It is not self-retracting, you must wrap it up each time.

• It wraps around 2 arms that are attached to the side of the vacuum. When you want to use the cord you simply turn one of the arms down and the cord is ready to use. Couldn't be any easier.

• It is not self - retracting. My favorite feature is the ability to remove the handle for use as hose.
