You press the tab/button near the hose end and pull the hose end out to change the hand use ends or put it back into the main unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good question, Jad! You'll need to remove the portable spot cleaner from the machine to use the hose. When looking at the machine from the front there is a pedal on the left side to release the portable cleaner from the base.

On the right side of the machine, if you're standing behind it like you are using it, there is a pedal. It's labeled "Portable Spot Cleaning Release Pedal" in the manual. Use the pedal gently with your foot and the specialty tool should be working for you.
