Yes, you can turn it on whenever you want. Even when you're not making coffee. Turning it on will heat it up.

It has an auto shut off but you can turn it right back on.

yes you can. if light is dark not green press on and it will stay on for 2 hours

Yup definitely, turn it on and off at your leisure, but also has auto on and off with timer.

Yes, I do it a lot. You can turn push on the button to keep coffee warm longer.
